My first Blog post 6/29/2025

June 27, 2025

I wanted a blog with no JavaScript, and here it is! I'll be using individual html pages per blog post and a main html index page for listing and navigation. The index page and organization might have to change over time, but for now I think this will work for exactly what I want.

While I'm all for the using different tools as a method of expression, I'm not a fan of learning a third language to make my website harder for me to work in as a new webdev. On top of that, I personally dislike the notion that every website needs to use javascript. Anything more than this felt like overkill. I do need to create a link circling back to the BlogIndex though, but the back function exists so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Also, yes, this is certainly just me not wanting to learn another language because I have enough hobbies and shit to do as is.

Anyhoos, I did it! I'm proud of me. The entire experience of learning some html and css through neocities has been so much more fulfilling for me than using traditional social media. While this required a lot of work and learning new things on my account, I'm super thankful for the experience. Every update is a trial in learning something new, and it forces me to use my brain in ways that I'm simply not used to in the current internet landscape. Honestly, reminds me of tweaking my Gaia Online profile back when I was 13. I used to do that every week as my interests and focus changed.

It's been an adventure here picking up those pieces. I can't wait for more. Every time I open VSCode is a new opportunity for expression and learning something new. Thanks neocities for helping to keep the internet culture I grew up knowing alive. The world is truly not as cold and dead a place as some would have us believe.
